CHAPTER TWO

RE-WIREMENT, NOT RE-TIREMENT.

RE-WIREMENT,
NOT RE-TIREMENT.

“Overcoming Anxiety and Finding Purpose: The Power of Volunteering and Personal Transformation”

Let’s be honest—when I left my career, I thought I was walking into freedom.

No more 5 a.m. alarms. No more corporate politics. No more back-to-back meetings that drained every ounce of creativity from my soul. I envisioned soft mornings, long lunches, maybe some travel and time to ‘figure out what’s next.’

But here’s what they don’t tell you about stepping away from a job that defined you: The silence can be deafening.

I went from being constantly needed—to wondering if I was needed at all. I had financial independence. A name in my industry. A purpose. And then suddenly, I had… time. Too much of it.

That’s when the self-doubt creeps in, doesn’t it? When the makeup comes off. When the inbox is quiet. When you start scrolling social media and every woman seems to have it more ‘figured out’ than you do.

I felt stuck. Useless. Like I had lost every ounce of momentum and magic that once fueled me. My brain felt foggy. My confidence was shaken. I was spiraling—and I knew I needed something to pull me out.

And then I remembered that old adage:
When you’re hurting, help someone else.

So I did.

I found Bottomless Closet, a powerful nonprofit that supports women entering or reentering the workforce—women who’ve faced real adversity, real setbacks, real fear. I started volunteering there, helping women with career coaching, resume prep, and yes… styling.

We dressed them in donated ready-to-wear clothing—transforming them head-to-toe. And I mean it when I say: these women became medicine for me. Their bravery. Their gratitude. Their transformations. The way they’d walk in nervous, unsure, even broken—and walk out smiling, standing taller, looking like the job was already theirs.

In helping them feel seen and confident, I found me again.

Sure, friends and family had always told me I was stylish. But this? This showed me I had a gift—not just for fashion, but for connecting with women. For seeing them. For helping them see themselves.

And I realized: I could do this for a living. And I could do it well.

Around the same time, my mom reminded me how—since I was a little girl—I was always predicting trends, styling outfits, playing dress-up with elegance and edge. This wasn’t a new version of me. This was the real me.

Funny enough, this new chapter didn’t come with a shopping spree. Quite the opposite. With finances tighter than ever, I was forced to get creative and pull newness from my existing wardrobe. And you know what? I still showed up looking trend-relevant, put-together, and fabulous (even if hiding behind sunglasses helped a little 😉).

Fashion became therapy. Service gave me strength. And EDIT ACCORDINGLY was born.

So if you’re sitting in your own quiet place wondering what’s next, I invite you to ask yourself:

What have you always been good at? What brings you joy, even on your hardest days? What could you give to someone else today that might give you a little piece of yourself back in return?

You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just need to begin.

Start by booking your REFRESH, RESTORE, REJUVENATE session today. Let’s reimagine your wardrobe—and maybe, your whole lifestyle. One look at a time.
